Terms of use (draft)
Draft, not in force. The website is not open to the public yet. Items marked
[TO BE DECIDED: …]must be settled before the first public user. Written by the project, not by a lawyer; not legal advice.

These terms cover the Tavern Ledger website and the accounts on it. The desktop app and its source code are covered by their open-source licence (section 6).
1. What Tavern Ledger is
A free fan project, run by one person in their spare time: a Windows app that reads Hearthstone’s log files on your PC, and a website to keep and share your Battlegrounds games. It is offered by Andrew Rodrigo, Bulgaria; contact: contact@tavernledger.net.
Unofficial fan project. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment. Hearthstone is a trademark of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc.
2. Your account
- You must be 16 or older to create an account.
- Use a real email address you control, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what you do with your account and for keeping your password safe. If you think someone else is using it, change your password and tell us.
- One person per account. Do not create accounts in bulk or for someone else without their consent.
3. Acceptable use
Do not:
- upload data that is not from your own games, or that has been changed to mislead;
- put other people’s personal data (for example a BattleTag) in your display name or anywhere else;
- use a display name that is offensive, impersonates someone, or infringes someone’s rights;
- try to break, overload or get around the limits and security of the site, or access other people’s private data (public profiles are meant to be seen);
- copy public profiles in bulk with automated tools, or use the site in a way that harms other users or the project. Downloading your own data from your account page is always fine.
If an account breaks these rules, we may take a proportionate step: ask you to change something, remove the content, or suspend or, for serious or repeated breaches, delete the account. We will tell you why and give you the chance to download your data first, unless we must act at once to stop harm (for example an attack or illegal content). You can reply to us to ask us to reconsider.
4. Public profiles
Your profile is private until you make it public. A public profile shows your display name and every game you uploaded, in full, to anyone, and anyone can link to it or copy what it shows. You can make it private again at any time; copies others already made are out of our control.
5. Your data and leaving
You keep your rights in your data. You allow us to store and process it only to run the service for you (and to show it to others if your profile is public). You can download your data and delete your account at any time from your account page; the privacy policy explains what that covers.
6. Code, game content and trademarks
- Tavern Ledger’s source code is open source under the MIT licence: github.com/KBroneZ/tavern-ledger.
- The MIT licence covers our code only. Hearthstone’s names, cards, images and other game content belong to Blizzard Entertainment and are used, if at all, under Blizzard’s Fan Content Policy; they are not part of the MIT licence and you get no rights in them from us.
7. No warranty
The service is free and provided “as is” and “as available”. It may have errors, be unavailable, change or end. Stats come from the game’s log files and can be incomplete or wrong, especially after a game update; the app is designed to say when it cannot read a game rather than guess. Keep your own copy of anything important: you can export it at any time.
8. Liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for losses caused by the service being unavailable, by errors in the stats, or by data loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your rights as a consumer.
9. The game
Tavern Ledger only reads the log files the game writes on your PC. It does not read the game’s memory, change game files, inject code or act in the game for you. Your use of Hearthstone stays subject to Blizzard’s own terms.
10. Ending
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. If we decide to close the service, we will tell signed-up users by email at least 30 days before, so you can download your data.
11. Changes and law
We may change these terms when the service, the law or our providers change. We will post changes here with a new date and tell signed-up users by email at least 30 days before a change that affects them applies. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before then. These terms are governed by the law of Bulgaria, without taking away the protection of the law of the country where you live as a consumer.
